22 Rapid shutdown 22.1 If rapid shutdown equipment or systems are integral to the BIPV roof covering, the rapid shutdown equipment or systems shall comply with UL 1 741 . PERFORMANCE 23 General 23.1 BIPV shall be tested to all performance tests indicated in UL 1 703, Sections 1 8 – 42A.1 with the following exceptions: a) Section 30, Impact Test, b) Section 37, Corrosive Atmosphere Test c) Section 31 , Fire Tests d) Section 41 , Mechanical Loading Test, or 23.2 BIPV shall be tested to all performance tests indicated in UL 61 730-2, Sections 1 0.1 – 1 0.33 with the following exceptions: a) 1 0.1 7 Fire test, MST 23 b) 1 0.1 8 Ignitability test, MST 24, c) 1 0.23 Static Mechanical load test, MST 34 24 Impact Test 24.1 All elements of the BIPV roof covering shall be tested in accordance with UL 221 8 or FM Approvals 4473, as applicable. 24.2 The BIPV roof covering shall have a minimum rating of Class 1 . After impact, there shall be no accessible live parts as defined in Accessibility of Uninsulated Live Parts, Section 1 5. Breakage of the superstrate material is acceptable provided there are no particles larger than 1 square in (6.5 cm 2 ) released from their normal mounting position, and that the laminate shall remain intact without portions of the laminate becoming dislodged in a manner that will prevent the BIPV roof covering from providing weather protection. 25 Fire Tests 25.1 BIPV roof covering shall be tested in accordance with UL 790, as a Class A, B, or C roof covering.
27 Gasket Test 27.1 The requirements in Gasket Tests, Section 33, in UL 3730 shall be applied without modifications. 28 Salt Spray Test 28.1 The requirements in Salt Spray Test, Section 34.1 , in UL 3730 shall be applied without modifications. 29 Moist Carbon Dioxide/Sulphur Dioxide Test 29.1 The requirements in Moist Carbon Dioxide/Sulphur Dioxide Test, Section 34.2, in UL 3730 shall be applied without modifications. 30 Metallic Coating Thickness Test 30.1 The requirements in Metallic Coating Thickness Test, Section 35, in UL 3730 shall be applied without modifications. 31 Mechanical Loading Test 31 .1 A BIPV roof covering and any mounting hardware supplied with the module or panel shall withstand a load as shown in Figure 31 .1 and comply with paragraph 31 .2 for a period of 30 min, without evidence of structural or mechanical failure. Products tested to UL 61 730-2 will have been preconditioned by the 1 000- hour MST 53 Damp heat test prior to undergoing this procedure. Products tested to UL 1 703 do not require preconditioning. 31 .2 BIPV roof coverings shall not have a deflection of more than L/240; where ”L” is equal to the clear span length in feet of the deflected member. All glazing materials shall be of such strength as to withstand the loads specified in 31 .3.
